Rolling Mill Stands are used to control the outer diameter of the product during the elongation and diameter finishing processes. Mill Stands in rolling mills consist of several components and systems, all of which are subject to a mixture of high temperatures, high loads, and extreme conditions.

API Engineering has been involved in the design and supply of a variety of custom-built rolling mill stands for Steel Mills around the world. We supply everything from individual stands to complete stand sets, as well as replacement components for various processes including flat-rolling and shape-rolling.

  • Bar Mill sizing stands
  • Stretch-Reducing / Sizing Mills for both single drive per stand and single drive per roller configurations
  • Elongation Mills, including adjustable 3-roll stands

Our Mill Stand sizes vary in accordance with the required dimensions of rolls and necks, the groove design and the transmission and drive characteristics. Our engineers have the expertise and experience to develop and design Mill Stands to suit the specifications of any Steel Mill.

Both 2-roll and 3-roll configurations are available and existing stands can be reverse engineered to fit with customers’ existing equipment.

Refurbishment

From our UK facility, we offer complete overhaul and refurbishment of your stands. As part of this process, we offer:

  • Disassembly and inspection
  • Replacement Bearings, Hardware and Fasteners
  • Repair of housing as required
  • Supply and installation of new rolls
  • Assembly, lubrication and testing

We also offer gearbox refurbishment including reverse engineering of obsolete gears for re-manufacturing and replacement. In some cases, it is possible to improve the safety factor and service life over the original gearbox.

Spare and Wear Parts

API Engineering can also supply spare and wear parts for Rolling Mills including Rolls, Bearings, Seals, Shafts and other consumables, compatible with most international manufacturing standards.
